Welcome to Unreasonable Logic, a collection of short, observational columns written from a suburban living room in Coventry.
The premise is straightforward: life is largely absurd, modern existence is increasingly complicated, and most of our coping strategies involve making another cup of tea and hoping the problem resolves itself.
This publication isn't a lifestyle guide, a corporate lecture, or a self-help manual. It’s simply an attempt to make sense of the world one small irritation, domestic paradox, and wandering thought at a time.
What You’ll Find Here
- Everyday Observations: The unwritten rules of modern life, questionable packaging, the mechanics of tea breaks, and why simple things have become needlessly difficult.
- Street-Level Philosophy: Exploring big ideas—from Stoicism to thought experiments—by stripping away the high-minded jargon and seeing how they hold up at the supermarket self-checkout.
- The Peculiar Machinery of the Mind: Honest, unvarnished dispatches on living with a brain wired for high alert (PTSD, hypervigilance, and rogue midnight horror shows), reported with candour and dry wit.
- The Ongoing Quest for Sanity: Navigating the "afternoon" of life, stiff joints, and the perpetual dream of packing it all in for a quiet walk along the coast.
Behind the Keyboard
I’m Andy Hawthorne. I spend my working days directing people operations and my evenings trying to convince my brain to sit quietly in a comfortable chair.
When I’m not writing, I’m usually out walking with my wife, Mary, teaching our granddaughter how to spot a good photograph, or trying to understand why the universe insists on keeping the washing-up in the sink.
Pull up an armchair, pour yourself a brew, and enjoy the scribbles.
